Yesterday at about 11:47 am, ZambianMusic.Net team was in a restaurant in Kitwe and they spotted one of Zambia’s promising artists known to his Kitwe fans as Delbling. After a few minutes, they decided to have a short discussion with this talented young man and in his own words, this is what he had to say: I was born Edgar Munkombwe on 13th April 1988. My stage name is DELBONZO, a name that I adopted 10 years back on my first day in studio. Iam the first born in a family of only two children. I studied accountancy but unfortunately I did not complete my course due to tution.

When I dropped out of college, I searched for jobs and allow me tell you this, searching for a job also became a job itself. I don’t remember how many applications I submitted to different employers but one thing I can never forget is that, I submitted my CV each day and to my surprise, I was never even called to pick up my rejected CV. I would write my own songs every evening before going to bed. My mother would always tell me that “My son, don’t loose hope, one day you will move from one level to another.

My inspiration comes from artists like Justin Timberlake, R. Kelly, John legend and Chris brown to mention a few and I think its the reason as to why I chose to do RnB. At the age 21, with influences from Joe Chibangu, Kmillian ,Danny ,OZZY and a few other Zambian artists, I started writting good songs with mature lyrical content. In the year 2009, together with my then good friends, I formed up a music group and we called it “The Adolescents” and we recorded a number of songs and God blessed us with a song titled Ndefwayafwe which topped charts in Northern Zambia and other parts of Zambia.

Early 2013 while at a concert in Lusaka city, I met the mighty PJay (May His Soul Rest in Peace) and he chose me out of the other artists and guess what, he gave me a chance to feature on a song with him. I sat down, wrote my lyrics, P Jay also wrote his lines and we together came up with a song titled Niwe which turned out to be a major monster hit though some dark hearted DJs and Presenters chose not to support it, but we made it to the charts. I have since released a number of collabos with some of my homies till of recent when I chose to go solo. Delbonzo further told Paula that, he’s currently making final touches for his forth coming album titled “My Name” and one of the songs on this album is Nafwa.
